Didn't Fall Down the Stairs

'Spose I should mention it...you know how yesterday I was wondering what sort of day it would be?

Turns out it was the sort of day to get kicked hard in the face.

It happens, sometimes, and I'm not upset about it. I do, however, have a raspberry bruise on my chin and a slightly swollen lip. So I thought I should mention this in a (probably futile) attempt to avoid the ohmigodAbrawhathappened?

What happened? Obviously sparring, but...damn!

It's not that bad, really? Didn't bite through my lip, though I've got some nice cuts on the inside of my bottom lip, teeth all solidly rooted, etc....

Yes, sparring with Karma, who just got her green belt and is therefore adjusting to being allowed head contact. We were all being encouraged to try new things, instead of falling back on old patterns. I was working on being totally defensive (obviously I made a critical failure at blocking!). She also happened to be trying the ball of the foot chop kick, which meant she was hitting harder than normal, too.

She was really feeling guilty about it....

I caught an elbow to the ankle from a blocked kick. It's better now, but I've been limping since.

Ow.

I've done that. It rather well hurts a lot. Was it the anklebone, or just the ankle area in general?

Top of the foot, right at the base of the ankle. Really hinders the flexibility. It's been getting better all day, but grappling may be interesting tomorrow.

ah, that explains it, then. i was clocked in the head harder than ever before during sparring, that day. twice. once by the same person who hit you, but no visible evidence here. half an inch over, and i think i'd have a broken nose, though.

That probably explains why she was so very, very, very apologetic about it....
