Wallpaper: Striped Lifeguard Hut at the Beach

Sparkling Morning, originally uploaded by Fraggle Red.

The vivid colors are fantastic, and the position of the hut and the rising sun make this photograph really pop. Dawn is always a wonderful time, and the unusual emptiness of the beach and the deserted lifeguard shack have an odd sort of serene whimsicality.

I'm convinced that HDR photography, if done subtly, can really seem more accurate than a plain single exposure. I think this is a good example of using it well. It would be nice if HDR plugins were free.

Absolutely.

I didn't even realize that this was HDR at first.

When it's good, it's really, really good, but when it's bad, it's awful!

Resolution and Aspect Ratio

Do you have a preferred resolution for desktop wallpaper images?

What is your preferred resolution for desktop wallpaper images?

900-1100 wide and proportionately tall....

Proportionately tall for a normal CRT (as opposed to a widescreen format)? Like, 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768?

Or--aha--perhaps you ususually make your wallpaper smaller than your desktop, so the precise dimensions are somewhat flexible.

Yes.

And I usually use the stretch feature, actually, which resizes everything nicely within certain limits.

Um.

But why are you asking?

Oh, you know.... No reason.
