I like that wisegeek calls it "like a cross between a rutabaga, potato, sunflower seed, and water chestnut." Because that really clears things up. If they'd just said "Jerusalem artichoke" first, I would've known exactly what they were talking about.

I've at least *heard* of Jerusalem artichokes, though I've never had them.
