The Day of Nothing

Yesterday, I did nothing.

Nada. Zip. Zilch. No obligations. No appointments. No mandatory social events. No conventions. No family visits. No conventions. No photo gigs or uploads or edits. No writing or editing projects. No physical therapy exercises. No crossing off items from the to-do list. No household cleaning projects. Well, okay, I take that last one back--I did laundry and dishes. But those daily tasks are more like showering: it doesn't count as an effort unless things are really bad.

Yesterday, I did nothing, and it was blissful.

I slept in late, and read two favorite books, and watched some TV. I cooked pflintzen (Russian pancakes) for breakfast, and we scrounged leftovers for lunch and dinner. I petted the cats. I lounged outside in the hammock and watched Phil figure out what was going on with some of the house's--trim, I guess you'd call it. I had a couple of drinks and ate chocolates. Eventually, I bestirred myself enough to fold laundry and mend a shirt--but not because I had to.

Sometimes nothing and just what the doctor ordered are the exact same thing.

I'm sure the chocolates helped too :)

Heh, well, I'm not a rabid chocolate-eater like some people I know, but they certainly didn't do any harm.

I'm hoping I have one of those days coming my way soon. Probably not until after my family reunion, but still...soon.

Yes. Just reading all the things you're up to is exhausting.

I did that on Monday. Took the day off to recover from my brother's wedding over the weekend, and I read some, played some video games, entered some book information into BoardGameGeek's expansion into role-playing games, and went to my weekly Magic the Gathering game. It was great!

Sometimes I forget that days of deliberately not doing anything are important, mostly because days of accidentally not doing anything are frustrating.

Also I have a to-do list that could devour the world.
