A fortuneteller who is the daughter of (at least one) sociopathic serial killer, and hence has been taught from a young age how to fake various social interactions, providing her with a solid basis for seeing fakes? Why yes, I think that's a great idea for a romance novel.

A massive roll of rug blocking the road, in the colors of Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Push-ups while I was waiting for the bus.

A debt collection enforcer who had Garfield stationary (give me all your lasagna).

Toadstools flourishing in our backyard.

A paper bag filled with recycling, sitting next to a streetside public trash can.

Post the first line of each of your works-in-progress. Yes, these are all (except Vicesteed) plain ole working titles. From this, one thing is clear: I really need better opening lines.

Crystal Shop Murder -
Elizabeth pushed open the doors of [name-check phone book for New Age stores and combine appropriately], feeling the same surge of satisfaction and well-being that she got every day when she entered her shop.

Vicesteed -
Night mist swirled around Valinda's boots as she walked through the empty street.

Goblins -
After all the tourists had gone, leaving the hillside covered with sandwich wrappers and kleenex, they came out.

Scrice -
A golden castle glitters in the sunlight.

Wingbeat -
"You sold the song to Clear Skies Travel," Beth repeated numbly.

Poker Game -
"Who's the king?" Roy asked, pushing his chair back from the small folding table.

Egg -
My dentures had been picking up stray transmissions all day, so the egg didn't catch me completely off-guard.

Sharks and Manta Rays -
“Can I help?” Marc asked.

Confession -
"Oh, this isn't confession, Father," she said mischievously.

Quest -
"Oh, so your friend Jack, your good friend Jack, went on a quest and gained riches, fame, and a beautiful woman?"

Sunflower Seeds -
I stumbled down the granite steps in a daze.

Dinner is Served -
The metal detector started going off in the middle of soup.
