My boss at Job #2 gave me a tomato. Vine-grown, she said with an anxious look, though ripened in a paper bag. I thanked her, though I was then faced with the tricky task of successfully transporting a ripened tomato in a full backpack, though walking and sprinting after busses (something that occurs with irritating regularity in my life) and jolting bus rides and doctor's appointments (more on that later). Still, I will never scoff at fresh fruits or vegetables, for Lo! they are expensive, and therefore rare in this household.
This compelled me to share my saga of the tomato plants....
I procrastinate like nobody's business. It's a flaw that I'm aware of, and I'll work on it...when I have the time. In this specific case, it led to my planting my tomato plants way too late. I figured this out when it started getting really cold out, and they were just blossoming. So, since I planted them in containers, I moved them indoors. Now I have six tomato plants growing inside, with three green tomatoes getting larger by the day.
They had approximately the same reaction to this anecdote as you do.
The "Um, okay...." reaction.
