I dreamed that I was walking with Phil through a weird hybrid of "St. Paul by the river" and "Minneapolis by the merging of I-94 and 35-W." There was snow on the ground, of depths between ten feet and 2 inches. It was a photo walk--the main goal was to take photographs. The day was caught in a perpetual golden hour, and there were so many good shots. When we got to the river, there was a series of stone arches in a walkway beside it, and at the other end was a glorious Minneapolis skyline. Buddhist monks were inspecting the archways. Across the river, three weeping Goth girls ran down the sidewalk.

I woke up disappointed that I'd never have any of those photographs to look at in the real world.

* Hunted high and low looking for the marked-up copy of "The Ice Mother"--had hoped to make editing changes and figure length to decide whether or not to submit to Misfits writing contest. Instead, realized I couldn't find it anywhere. Freaked out and tore house apart.
* Went to Cahoots and redmarked "The Unkindness of Ravens" instead, fixing the jarring and confusing beginning. Beginnings are my kryptonite as a writer. I *never* pick the right point to start a story. Fortunately, I'm getting pretty good at fixing this.
* [livejournal.com profile] penthius freewriting - "Signing Away Sanity: Science Fiction"
* Got home and double-checked digital manuscript to see if I'd maybe made editing changes and just forgotten to note that in my manuscript tracking spreadsheet. Nope. Still 1st draft. Cue profuse swearing
* Then there was alcohol, and an idea for what seemed at the time like a funny parody of all the "I fight demons" stories out there.

  • 23:48 Went out, had drinks, saw people (yay!), now choosing sleep over physical therapy exercises. Boo. Tomorrow, more diligence. #
  • 00:09 Ouch. Sensitive artist-type soul feeling hurt and unloved. Nothing to do with any of y'all. Or husband, if you wondered. #
  • 10:12 Want to get way more done today than is temporally possible--writing, photography, job hunt, martial arts. Pondering priorities. #
  • 11:37 Phil has found the One True Ping-Pong Table. #
  • 13:31 Am sometimes amazed at how useful spreadsheets are for writers. Plan on writing an article about that. #
  • 13:33 Ha! When I sing along to Du Hast, girl cat tries to join in. #
  • 15:09 Note to self: next time need mood improvement, just look at LOLcats for 5 minutes. #
  • 17:37 Phil is unpacking 2-year-old miscellaneous boxes of crap from the basement. I flee in terror. #
  • 19:08 Unpacking led to discovery of old film canister holding strange unidentified orange pills. ::fear:: #
  • 19:14 Nggg. Spent too long dinking about with writerly stuff and not being able to actually *finish* something. Irritating. #
  • 19:15 The day is done, the evening's here, and it's time to do physical therapy knee exercises. While watching Sopranoes, maybe. #
