crocodile
red princess
pink princess
cat
cowboy, a poor kid in a clearly thrown-together costume, with about ten other kids not costumed
Another set of about 5 uncostumed, though one of the girls had done neat face makeup.
blue princess
baby pumpkin with parents - baby was pretty young, clearly not yet of a candy-eating age
family of 8 ghouls in white face paint - One said, "Remember to vote," instead of, "Trick-or-treat." Awesome.
dracula, devil, skeleton army guy, skeletor
construction worker - poor kid was only maybe 3 years old, the adult male relatives who took him out trick-or-treating insisted on the previous older batch of kids stopping to have their picture taken with the kid. Persuasion was needed.
No-costume kid with his mom. Mom also wanted candy and specified, "Chocolate. I like chocolate."
Jack o'lantern
Skeleton w/ cape and battle ax, all alone without other kids or parents. Looked spooked.
Luchador, I think, and steam enginge.
Scream and an uncostumed kid.

The number of kids who just don't bother, or whose parents just don't bother, with a costume bugs me. Also a bit interesting was that most of the trick-or-treaters were black, with a few Hispanic families. This is weird because I know there are white families with kids in the neighborhood.

Romanesco broccoli, originally uploaded by aswiebe.

The most fractal vegetable you'll ever see. Whenever I get this out to cook, I end up staring at it in awe for a while first.
