T -3 Days Doctor's Visit
Jul. 29th, 2011 02:38 pmWarning: Possible pregnancy TMI!
Progress! Well, a little progress. The baby has lowered a little, but not all the way. I have started to dilate, but only to 1 cm (some women do this a month or so before giving birth, some only once they're actually in labor--it doesn't really allow any timing predictions). Things are softening and effacing but aren't all the way there yet. So the cramping that I've been enduring (*not* contractions, just nasty period-like cramps) has actually been a sign that something is going on, which is good! I have an appointment to see a doctor for next Friday, at which point I will be past due (since my official due date is Monday). If I get that far, they'll do a no-stress test on the baby to make sure everything's fine and then figure out birth induction scheduling. They really don't like letting people go more than a week overdue.
