The keyboard shortcuts I'd memorized don't seem to work with the new gmail buttons as well either.

Well, for what its worth "L" opens the Label menu and "V" opens the Move to menu.

Actually, it works pretty slick if you want to move a thing to being archived and having just one label via keyboard only:

Type "V" to bring up the move to menu. Start typing the label name/use arrows until the label you want is found, hit return.

Still not sure I like it, and it IS slower response wise with the mouse.
