I have to know...who's charging? My Disdain-o-meter needs something to aim at.

Like the saying goes.... money flows towards the writer. Any market that charges to submit only deserves my disdain and mockery.

Don't remember the name, since I didn't add it. It was some literary magazine that actually paid reasonably well--but charging to submit? No. Not acceptable.

Yeah. I can sort of understand contests that charge entry fees if they need them to fund the pot and to hire high-level judges, but I don't submit to them either. Regular pubs? No. It's something I've seen more than once in literary magazines, though.
