And the Sun Beat Down
Jul. 16th, 2005 11:22 pmToo damn hot. I know it's too hot when I go to the dojang for a workout, and my first thought is, "Yay! Air-conditioning! I'll feel cooler!" The weathermen are predicting cooling storms tomorrow, but I no longer trust these 'weathermen'. They first predicted these cooling storms two weeks ago.
This morning was Tae Soo Do class.
chesh attended her first class. Normally I would say that starting classes with Saturday (usually the hard workout) could be a Bad Idea, but fortunately the instructor didn't really have us doing stations. And she did well, though there was a lot of new stuff to absorb and she was a bit shaky by the end of it.
After that,
gunn conveyed us to the company picnic. Yes, the company picnic. Frightening thought, but at least they provided free, cold beer along with the food. Bonus points for that. Minus points for it being unpleasantly hot. Bonus points for tasty potato salad (which I've been craving since the 4th of July and the horrible "German Potato Salad" cooking experience).
Then we returned to my hous where we tried to figure out what to do next. Swimming was proposed but eventually dismissed in favor of
gunn and
chesh going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in air-conditioned comfort. I was highly tempted, but as I had seen it just the night before (I highly recommend it--it was fabulous), I decided to do the fiscally responsible thing and stay home. So I fed them blackberry icecream and then they departed for the aforementioned air-conditioned comfort.
It was still hot.
So I crawled into my cardboard-box cave in the basement (what? doesn't everybody have one?) and slept for three hours. I woke up around seven, by which point the temperature was just beginning to be tolerable.
Resolution: Stop complaining about the heat. Hell, let's just pretend that (unpleasant) weather doesn't exist, ok?
