First Snow

Fairly heavy snowfall outside my window, can't see for more than a block.

I'm not looking forward to winter this year. I don't like the cold (or the heating bill), and I'm especially worried about keeping the baby warm enough. And there's a thick layer of leaves in our backyard that need to be raked up--when there's not snow on them.

But the snow is so beautiful. Just seeing it makes me think of Christmas carols, and hot chocolate, and snuggling under blankets with cats.

It's apparently pretty common practice in northern countries to let infants sleep outside in very cold weather, bundled up under feather blankets. So, yanno, if their kids aren't freezing to death, I'm sure your little bugbear will be fine too.

Except these days we're warned about not using blankets with infants, because of suffocation/SIDS risks.

So one fleece sleep-sack is all he gets, and soon he's going to outgrow the swaddle, which means his arms will be free and only covered by his onesie, and, and...I worry. I am a mama, and that's what I do.
