Me: "The mailman would probably really appreciate it if you shoveled the front sidewalk."

Phil: "I have no socks! Without socks, I cannot shovel the sidewalk. Without socks, I cannot go out and get milk and eggsesses.

"In fact, I should not even have left the bed without socks. My feet are so very, very cold."

Note: This is extra-funny because he's the one responsible for laundry right now.

Our front porch had been turned into an indoor greenhouse and we were growing nine tomato plants that were at least 12 feet high. They were flourishing, though I wasn't sure how I was going to pick the tomatoes at the top. [livejournal.com profile] yanni_85 stopped by with a small tomato plant that he said he couldn't keep safe from the squirrels, so he wanted to keep it in our greenhouse.

...

I was sitting on a couch in an old warehouse converted to living quarters, one wall entirely open to the courtyard outside, which was like the compound I grew up in in Africa. A little blond girl was hiding behind the couch, and somebody else was sitting on another couch wondering what we should watch on TV. There were men with guns coming.

....

Me and a friend were trying to organize the seating for what was going to be a huge poker tournament in a big, dark hall lit with spotlights, with a stage up front. There were restaurant tables arranged inside, but for some reason we had to have everybody facing the same way, so we needed to move things around and get more places to sit. We dragged out end tables and stools and remembered the old orange couch that I have upstairs in my house. A skinny blonde came out and yelled at us for moving her tables, and we explained that we had to.
