This whole writing-out-dreams thing does help me to remember my dreams and have more vivid ones, so is worth it, but it is a mite time-consuming.

I was in an open hall, for a meeting of some sort. A boy was wandering around writing little notations on pieces of paper attached to the walls, calendars, under shelves, and such odd places. An older man said he was his father, and confided that the boy was setting out clues to be followed. The inference was that it was a scavenger hunt of some sort. Curious, I and [a female who was a friend] went over to look at the clues. Once there, I was distracted by a cigar box that was full of peeping baby chicks. They were incredibly cute, so I petted them for a bit. A strange dragonfly-looking thing perched on the outer edge of the box, and I knew that this was what a peacock looked like when it was a chick. I said I would take the peacock.

The old man decided that we could see the rest of his animals. He showed me a pony and said that he wished there was a way to keep it alive except by feeding it its own kin. Some sort of vitamin deficiency would kill it, and the only way that this could be prevented was by grinding its children into some sort of coarse meal and feeding them to it.

Dream sources: I think the clues thing came from discussion of SF0 at the CC Club last night, and the peacock came from seeing a girl with a very impressive 2 1/2' tall peacock-colored Mohawk. The second part of the dream was probably some leftover from the dream I had the night before.

And that was one fucked-up dream! )

The weather today is gorgeous and fantastic. All the house's windows are open, the cats are loving every stray scent that blows in, and we're grilling tonight around 6. Company welcome! Come on over, and bring something to throw on the grill.

Today is already a very good day. Sadly, because of Shopping! The Kmart on Lake Street has a couple of really good deals in the clearance section that have meant I can cross some items off my long-term "to own" list. They've got a couple of Roombas for $90--that's a great price! If you've been thinking about getting a Roomba, that would be an amazing deal. You have to pay an extra $8 at the cash register for a 1-year warranty, and it doesn't come with an automatic charging station or invisible walls, but it's still a good deal. Since the battery died on my old Roomba, I bought the new one for parts, basically (an entire Roomba for only $20 more than the battery replacement cost!). I also got an Everlast standing heavy bag for $30, because it rang up $20 cheaper than the already discounted price, which was $50, which is still a very good price for a standing heavy bag. Now I just have to resist the temptation to use it for another month or so (v. difficult). And they've got all kinds of rose root stock for sale from $6-$3!

Hmm. I think I'm supposed to actually be doing writing work today. I should get to that!
