"Tree of Life" Writing Log
Words: 530

Overused word: sponge
Gratuitous word: demarcate
Type of scene: Getting necessary supplies! And then I realized that I'd had the main character running water over the sapling's roots in zero-g, which just wouldn't work. So I had to go back and rewrite that little bit, inventing the zero-g sponge-bath that the ship uses.
Challenge(s): See the bit above about the zero-g sponge-bath. It was generally vexing.
Which line is it anyways? The glittering spread of lanterns along the cavern floor dimmed as one by one, the merchants bundled up their goods, secured their tents or tables, and extinguished their lanterns.
Notes: I'm not sure how well my new writing schedule ("No, I *won't* work afternoons!") is working. I seem to be usually ending up with only about an hour, maybe a bit more, of writing time, what with eating lunch, biking home, handling errands, doing brief weeding, taking care of some paperwork--then I write--tidying house, making dinner, doing 2 hours of knee exercises (most nights), then falling asleep. May need to do the minute-by-minute documentation of time trick to figure out a better structure.
