Giant Hammocks and Peculiar Devices: Dream

abracanabraOne of the things that one can do to get better recall of dreams, as well as more interesting/lucid dreams, is to write down the dreams after they happen. It signals to your memory that you want to actually remember this stuff, that you're interested in it. After looking at the notes I scrawled down this morning, I think I also need to learn to write dreams down in complete sentences, not just scrawled fragments that I assume I will be able to understand in the morning.
Gaming, Actor's Guild, money, cafeteria food, geeks, wedding dress & Narnia costume, clothing wet, turkey & mashed potatoes
Does that sound anything like a coherent dream to you? Yeah, me neither. I do remember that the guy was in the wedding dress and the girl was in some sort of Narnia costume, but that's about it.
I scrawled those lines down when the Muse woke me up as he left for work this morning. After he left, I had some unpleasant nested dreams (dream within a dream) about him leaving (permanently). Dreamspace highlights:
Wandering through the Gay Pride festival at Loring Park as it was packing up and leaving. There was a huge covered dock that extended out for about forty feet above the pond, except that it was only the roof. Somebody had rigged a giant hammock out of yards and yards of white cloth, and children were climbing around in it and playing.
In a dormitory-style room, examining the peephole in the door. It fell apart in my hands, and I had to try to reassemble it. I opened the door and stared at the mechanism on the other side. It resembled a tiny pipe organ made out of brass, except all the pipes were spiked. I also found two devices that I knew were to help with sinus drainage when one was sick, so I used them. They were made out of brass, pipes and spikes, about three inches long. One simply put one up one's nostril, and the drainage became much easier. Very City of Lost Children.
