Finished writing the bare-bones html of the Spec the Halls website. There are some bells and whistles (i.e. forms, counters, donation buttons, etc.) that I'd like to add, but the basics are there.
Read Funds for Writers email.
Submitted Spec the Halls contest guidelines to a large number of writing market lists: posted to
specficmarkets and
seriouswriters, sent guidelines to Writing World, Critters, Funds for Writers, Writers Weekly, Absolute Write, Ralan, Spicy Green Iguana, and Duotrope.
The contest info is out there. Now I just get to sit on my hands and fidget until Thanksgiving, hoping that enough people find it interesting enough to submit to. There are drawbacks--the requirement to post it in a publically viewable place is a huge one. The prizes are not that large (because I'm paying them out of my own pocket). I just want it to turn out well, with a large number of people submitting good material. I want this contest to rock. Meep! So far, I've got two people subscribed to the weekly email I'm sending out, and one person who sent in her submission early (but it's pretty good, so I'm A-OK with that--this time). And soon the market listing will be published in various newsletters and markets and then...then...well, hopefully, then it will go well.
