Grappling is Fun!

Grappling class this morning, but this photo was from earlier. No, I was not attacked by the 80's. That's just what my hair looked like after a vigorous grappling session. It started out in a very tidy braid, too.
Class was very good this morning, though I had to overcome Phil's usual attempts at blackmailing me into not going (threats of abandoning me at home for the day). It's a wearying uphill battle, and that's even without how bad he gets with the threats of "making me quit" whenever a) I'm injured, or b) somebody else in class is injured badly enough for me to mention it (yeah, I should really remember not to do that). Like the other woman who broke a couple of bones in her hand while grappling during one of the classes I was home sick.
But class was good. Lots of positioning work. We've got a small tournament coming up next Saturday, and I'll be competing in position grappling and sparring. No forms, and I'm not good at submission grappling--I only know a couple of locks.
And I got to grapple other people today! Usually I end up grappling with the female assistant instructors, which is...discouraging, at times. Because most of the time I'm the only girl in my class, and for various "guys are squeamish" reasons, we usually stay segregated by gender, though I've had a couple of classes where I've grappled a guy. It was fun. Guys are less bendy and much easier to get locks on. Also, you know me...of *course* I'd like wrestling a guy into a submission lock!
