And how are you?

I don't know how to answer when people ask me how I am. I guess the honest answer is, "Pretty well under the circumstances, but the circumstances are shitty." When they keep walking as they ask, I just answer, "Fine."
I am frustrated. There are 3 major things on hold until my leg is fixed. And I feel trapped, because I was working towards making some specific points of stress vanish, and I can't continue until I'm functional again.
Oh, but there's other stuff I can do.

Date: 2007-11-30 09:09 pm (UTC)This is one of my least favorite things about American cube culture (this seems to me to be where it's most prevalent). One of my coworkers and I were griping about it last week, so now we've started doing this thing where we'll walk up to each other's desks and say, "So, how are you?" And we try to come up with a somewhat meaningful answer.
When asked, I usually say, "Upright." It's true, and it's slightly amusing.
You could always steal the immortal words of my old bagpipe instructor: "Fine, as long as you don't want details."
