Phil can be annoying.

Me: Vampire yakuza!

Him: Crappy.

Me: Stealing starpower by fucking ancient Johnny Depp in a nursing home!

Him: Crappy idea. Sorry, love, you have better. Write those instead.

Me: Grrrrr.....

Yeah. Vampires are violent. The Yakuza is violent. It really doesn't add anything to have a vampire yakuza.

Now, a story about a group of vampire Jewish grandmothers that get together monthly to play majong and complain about how their lazy sons can't find a nice Jewish girl to turn... that'd be awesome. ;)

He's got the right idea. About the yakuza vampires.

I am open to the geriphilic fame succubus, though.

Sigh...nobody has faith.

I do have better ideas, though, it's true. Maybe.

It's just... vampires and organized crime? Isn't that somewhere around 1/2 of all urban vampire stories? And vampire blood/bites as addictive? C'mon. You DO have better ideas. MUCH better ideas.

I mean, unless it's about Nachtzehrer (which are my new favorite vampire-from-folktales). They don't have fangs so they have to chew! They drink the blood of the dead! They drink too much and spend the day in their coffins wallowing the extra blood they threw up or pooped out because they ate too much! SEXXXY GODDAMN BEASTS

The one exception to my saying No is if you're just planning on doing what is essentially the Romance Novel/Disposable Action Fiction/Erotic Horror novel that you knock out in a month for quick dough. For ACTUAL writing, I stand by your hubby.

But mine's different.

Sigh.

I'm totally going to do a disposable novel for the cash sometime.

Just need to mix those ideas up a little...

Starpowered yakuza stealing nurses from Johnny Depp.

Heh.

That vampire yakuza thing is persistent isn't it. For me, while a book that hangs on 'cool idea, lets see what happens to a world in which it appears' is fine, I'm perfectly alright with stories built around unoriginal tropes that do something interesting in some other fashion. Now whether you can get anyone to notice the other interesting thing because they fixated on the unoriginal trope is another thing, but that's what word of mouth and reviewers are for.
