Found on the shores of the Mississippi River and taken home with me. I think some wild critter sure enjoyed its lunch!
This photo was in no way staged by me. I found this rubber ducky bobbing along the shores of the Mississippi River, looking none the worse for wear. I left it there, to bring entertainment to another startled person.
A fish lurks in the shallows.
This is one of those that I will eventually scan large.
A rusty engine sunk in the mud of a Mississippi River inlet. Taken when a summer drought had reduced the river's level as low as I've ever seen it.
I like this photograph because of its sense of layers. Also because all manner of creatures live on the banks of the Mississippi River, so I have no idea what might lurk beneath the pretty thistles.

From a distance--well, you can imagine. Oddly enough, an actual dead human body was washed up on shore the next day. Somebody else found it.
From a certain angle, this appears to be a strange new avian form of riverlife nestling in at the shore.

The blurry brick building in the background. That is work. The forest in the foreground? That is where I hide from work on my breaks. I pass through it on my way to the river.
