12/02/2008 - Tuesday, full work
* Finished 1 more critique for Critters to get my manuscript going out smoothly.
* Penthius freewriting, a low potential post-ass-kicking.

12/01/2008 - Monday, full work
* [livejournal.com profile] penthius freewriting, an interesting high potential idea--sorry, it's private-locked because in this case, the twist is the story.
* Updated seCret projeCt profile, and caught up on posts (it's easy now!)
* Posted in the forums on Authonomy, and made pimpage posts on LJ, Twitter, and MinnSpec. Please don't hate me.
* Posted writing log

11/30/2008 - Sunday, no work
* Loaded up the next few chapters of Vicesteed for the MinnSpec workshop.
* Submitted "The Miracle Material" to Writers of the Future contest.
* Finally buckled down and submitted a couple of agent queries for Serenade of Blood & Silver. Writing, editing--no problem. Submitting and querying? Something I have trouble making time for. Fingers crossed!
* Read more on the seCret projeCt forums, set up some structure for linking creations together.
* Made editing changes to Vicesteed.
* Loaded a couple of chapters from Serenade of Blood & Silver up to Authonomy.

11/29/2008 - Saturday, full work
* Read FFWSmallMarkets, FundsforWriters newsletters
* Processed "a pleasure to read" rejection of Miracle Material by OceanView Short Story Contest.
* [livejournal.com profile] penthius freewriting, something a little Christmassy.
* Caught up some more on the SeCret ProjeCt forums.
* Posted writing log.

"The Old Woman By The Sea" Writing Log

New words: 1,027
Total words: 1,027
Overused word: tilting
Gratuitous word: haunches
Type of scene: The Old Woman By The Sea finds something unexpected.
Challenge(s): Keeping track of the unreeling plot threads in my mind. Writing for me is a lot like dropping several balls of yarn on a constantly teetering surface--they roll all over the place and wrap around each other and most of my job is keeping track and catching the ones going way off-kilter.
Which exchange is it anyways?

"I need your tire," she told him.

He shifted his weight forward to peer up at her, eyebrows raised. No plans to get away now; his curiosity had the better of his caution. She suppressed a curse.

"For boring reasons," she tried.

His eyes swept her from head to toe, taking in her tangled gray hair, her sun-worn face, the ropey scar along the side of her throat, the necklace of soda pop bottle lid talismans--pop was safety, sunny afternoons in the park, a warm hand holding hers--she wore, her mismatched and ill-sized ragged clothes, and her calloused bare feet.

She held perfectly still, trying to look boring.

Researched: Less researched, more wrote lots of notes in big block letters for things to look up later.
Notes: This is not the story I'd planned on writing first for the not-so-seCret projeCt, but it is the one that insists on being written nownownow.
Other writingy stuff:
* [livejournal.com profile] penthius freewriting, a low-potential sketch brought on with my frustration with my credit card company.

11/08/2008 - Saturday, no work
* Processed new Spec the Halls submissions, put links up on website, sent acknowledgment emails.
* [livejournal.com profile] penthius freewriting, a little story idea about the spirit of Christmas. And cannibalism.
* Wrote up a fantastic zombie idea I woke up with. Really think it'll be an amazingly good story. V. exciting, now if only I had time to write it. :P
* Fixed the typos and nit-picks in "Salvaging Scottwell" and resubbed to Baen's Universe. Think I actually got everything this time. I'm done now, right? Can't believe I thought this story was finished months ago. I've gotta admit, as far as combining the "polishing" and "submitting" process, Baen's Universe has it going on.
* Caught up some more on the SeCret ProjeCt, uploaded files to online so I should be able to work on them when I'm not at home (in case of unexpected work downtime).
* Made editing changes to Vicesteed.
* Updated various Vicesteed critiquing statuses.
* Fought some more with the new version of OpenOffice, which crashes all the fucking time.
* Processed Gaea's crit of Vicesteed ch. 19-20.

Then I had to go to a James Bond party instead of continuing to work on stuff. Oh, woe was me.

Here, have a few interesting snippets about that seCret projeCt I'm sort of involved in (or will be once I find time to work on it).

Continuous Labs is running a tourism bureau at the Port Outreach Tourism Bureau.

Doesn't that look like a lovely place to visit?

Check out the Twitter feed - http://twitter.com/mediators - there's exciting stuff going on!

Take a look! I think it's going to grow into something pretty neat. (And you can play too....)

Which line is it anyways?When he climbed back into his quarters, the dragon's tail had gained a subtle blue gray tint.
Researched: melatonin, light therapy
Added to spellchecker: melatonin
Notes: I think I need something more dramatic soon. I'm not bored, but that might be because I can see what these bits are leading up to. Hmm. Well, I guess the blackmail will come up pretty soon and then he'll be busy destroying his soul. Oh, and I've increased the wordcount limit to about what a novel should actually be.
