Thing I want to see on company/commercial web 3.0 (or whatever iteration we're about to be up to): approved blogstreams. It's the next step beyond in-house blogs. The ability to filter RSS output feeds by tags, and to pull RSS input feeds into one massive stream, means a little tagging could automatically create a stream that serves as an information clearinghouse on a company/organization's website.

It's a little bit more fine-tuned than creating an auto-stream of your Google tracking would be--though that would be the minimal-effort solution.

Sure, moderation could be a bitch. You could either allow people to auto-add themselves to the stream and crowdsource that moderation, or you could approve certain bloggers--for example, Prada might approve certain fashion bloggers. Then anything they wrote and tagged "Pradablog" would automatically get pulled to Prada's Blogstream. Writers could add review blogs, with keys by their name. It would take a little effort on both sides to gain a wider audience for the blogger and a centralized, constantly updating, rolling news/reviews/updates/gossip page for the company/organization.

Perhaps somebody's already doing this?

Dear web,
Make it so.
Love,
Me

Google Maps just added Street View for Minneapolis. They win! Most fun ever! So, Minneapolis folks, follow my lead....

One other place I went today:

Seems to not have street view along Nicollet Mall proper. This is the Medical Arts building, where I went for my physical therapy. (Clearly, this picture was taken in warmer weather.)

Note: Yes, I know I didn't friends-lock this. Why? Because I'm listed in the phone book. Seriously, I'm not scared of people knowing who I am or where I live. It's part of my ongoing fight to Not Be Paranoid. Besides, I keep a very irregular schedule.

Worked all day, and will tomorrow as well, on the theory that I should make money while I can. Work availability isn't exactly predictable at the Owl, and I might have to have surgery. It was tolerable. Chatted with [livejournal.com profile] mischief03's brother and found him highly entertaining, if perhaps a bit too ready to admit he'd blown air up chickens' arseholes.

Swung by Walgreen's on the way home and picked up many good things:
* Ibuprofen
* A red-and-green jingle bell door ornament
* A wreath-hanger
* Vicodin

Once home again, made delicious Spaghetti Bolognese with lots of garlic. Alas, timing was poor, and so Mad Scientist had to eat a bagel instead so he could be ready to go to sports event thing on time.

In other news, Mad Scientist has been playing around with our new wireless. Without the pukka modem, it's spotty, but most of the time, it's certainly better than dial-up! My laptop's inferior wi-fi card usually doesn't even notice that there's a signal there to pick up. :( More fun playing around with setting up modems and routers and such on Monday.

Note to self: These 30 Essential Pieces Of Free (and Open) Software for Windows are quite awesome, and there's about half a dozen of 'em that I should download the next time I've got my laptop in an area with a high-speed internet connection. Also, [livejournal.com profile] lifehacker is both useful and addictive, but I'm more than a little cranky about its tendency lately to double-post everything. Why, oh RSS feed, why?

No, I will not be clicking on the link to "furtopia" that a research search brought up. Nuh-uh.
